The laboratory is a very hazardous place because there are many possible exposures to various dangers while inside it. From chemicals to machines to various equipment, laboratories are said to be a breeding ground for accidents just waiting to happen. This is why laboratory safety is important ,it significantly reduces the risk of these hazards happening, and helps prevent accidents and injury inside the laboratory. We sometimes tend to be careless, and a laboratory is no place for such behavior. Learning and understanding is the key to avoid accidents, to be aware is already one key in accident prevention. To create and maintain a safe place of work and a safe working environment through the dissemination of information, instruction, training and by regular auditing and monitoring. We should always factor the possible accidents that might occur during work, awareness is one way of avoiding all of this. When we are properly properly trained on the safety measures while working in a laboratory, we minimize the possibility having accidents. If an accident do occur while working, he or she can now properly asses and perform first aid. The trainees should also be able to describe the different safety working practices in their laboratories, which should include hygiene, protective equipment, housekeeping, the use of various cupboards and safety cabinets, handling of gases and chemicals, labeling, and working alone.
