Fuel costs have become totally preposterous lately. There is something we can do. Are you tired of insanely high gas prices? Is there anything the common man can do? Are you sick of just complaining? Do you think somebody should do something? Do you want to scream every time you buy gasoline? Are you ready to do something about it? Why are gas prices so high? The simple answer is supply and demand. Supply is not growing due to global pressure for fossil fuels as quickly as demand is growing. Unfortunately the time of cheap fossil fuels and gasoline are leaving us forever. The USA has declined to produce and refine more oil. The reasons are up to speculation. It is clearly understood that oil drilling and new refineries will have an environmental impact; however the impact on the "ice turtle" has to be balanced with the impact to our economy. The vast majority of Americans feel the anguish every time they go to the gas pumps. This is senseless. Our country has the resources to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, but refuses use them. What can you do about high gas prices? Call every state and federal politician you can find a phone number for. Ask them to explain exactly why gas prices are so high. Ask them why the US hasn't built a new refinery in 30 years. Ask them why they don't support drilling in ANWR. Other than drilling for oil in your yard, this is the all you can do to affect supply. So, why are oil prices so high? Demand is the one thing you personally can have some control over. Only 20-30 years ago operating a car required more than just turning a key and going. You had to manually adjust the choke. The point is, nothing of value is free, the medium of exchange here is doing something you don't currently do now. What does that have to do with high gas prices? Just trying to get you prepared for how you can save 30% to 80% on the fuel your car uses. You can wait for alternative energy cars that are mass produced in 15 to 30 years, and keep paying insane prices for gas, or you can do something NOW. Alternative energy is not new. Civilization has been utilizing nature for energy since recorded time. Think hot springs, whale blubber, horses, fire, sailboats, wind mills, water mills, dogs, oil, and coal. But history need not repeat itself, for personal locomotion these all won't suffice, especially when you already own a at least one vehicle. It is now possible to burn hydrogen gas from water, on on demand, mix it with gasoline, ignite it in your engine, and save money on gasoline. You can construct a device from commonplace materials for under $60 that will accomplish this. It will take you a few hours with simple tools to make, and under an hour to install it. The rub is, you will have to maintain it, which will probably take up to 30 minutes per month. Are you willing to give up your time to save $1 or more on every gallon of gas you buy? Why are gas prices so high? They don't have to be.
