Before I opened my first offshore bank account, I had visions of less than ethical practices like embezzlement schemes. I know that this is due to watching too much tv, and now I see that this type of account can be of great benefit to people and give them many great advantages and benefits. It isn't only the rich that can of need to open offshore bank accounts. There are people from many different backgrounds and income brackets who do this type of banking because of the many advantages of doing so or just because they would like to build savings or provide for retirement. So what are these benefits that I keep going on about? Well, for one, the tax advantages can be immense. Many countries do not levy taxes on funds held overseas, so unsurprisingly many people move their assets to avoid these extra fees. Another perfectly legal reason for having an offshore bank account is to take advantage of higher interest rates. A majority of these international banking institutions attempt to attract customers by offering very competitive rates that eclipse the standard interest rates offered by regular banks in most countries. Everyone wants the best ROI possible, even if that means keeping their funds in a remote location. Nowadays banks in the United States and many other economic powers are becoming choosier and are making opening an account more difficult, due to all the credit checks and other red tape. You should have to jump through hoops to get good financial services. People the world over are looking at offshore bank accounts as a means of getting these services without all the hassle. There are many ways to open an offshore bank account. You can phone or fax, for instance, but I think the best way is to search on the internet for the banks that are in the nations where you 'd like to keep you money, and then choose the one that give you the services that you require. I've had an offshore bank account since 2005, and couldn't be happier with the experience. I know my money is safe, is earning a fantastic rate of interest, and will grow to a nice, big sum by the time I'm ready to retire -- at which point I will be able to collect it and live the high life in an exotic locale!
