There are plenty of things you can offer your customers with a buffet style of restaurant. Chances are you will have a number of people that come in on a regular basis. They love the convenience of a buffet and being able to eat as soon as they walk in. They can also control the portion sizes of what they want to eat, not take what you bring out to them on a plate. You can't operate a successful buffet restaurant though if you don't offer a good selection of foods though. You may just have a smorgasbord for them to choose from. You may decide to have certain themes daily or rotate them around. You may find you can definitely get plenty of customers with a buffet of homemade Mexican or Italian foods. Make sure you offer what is going to taste great though even if the ingredients for these items are more expensive. If you have a steady stream of customers coming in to eat, your buffet restraurant can be very profitable. You will have to compare your prices with what you are offering. For example if your buffet offers crab legs it is understandable that you can charge more than if you have less expensive foods featured. Consider offering a variety of prices on the buffet depending on what time of day it is. Weekdays may be cheaper than weekends if you offer something extra on the weekend such as steak or prime rib. You should charge less for children and for the elderly than you do for adults that come in to eat. This is a great way for the entire family to get a meal they can afford at your restaurant. You definitely need to make sure you have reliable staff with a buffet too though. They need to keep their eyes open for spills and for empty containers of food on the buffet line. They also need to keep plenty of plates and silverware stacked up. They can clear away plates from the tables and even help families get everything to the table. It may seem like a great deal of money goes into the supply of food items for a buffet restaurant. You may be concerned that you aren't going to be making any money. Yet the majority of your guests will be eating less than what they pay for. Still, they will be very happy with the amount of food they got for the price. You will have some very big eaters but they aren't going to make you go broke. You can also save money on the food products you buy if you get them in bulk. You won't be sacrificing quality but you will be able to offer them plenty for their price. You will also be able to make quite a bit of profits. Many restaurant ower's enjoy offering an buffet and they are making good money doing so. Of course the amount of overhead expenses you have including your building, wages for the staff, utilities, and the cost of supplies will all have to be taken into consideration. Do your best to keep these types of cost low. That way you will have more profits coming in that will stay in your pocket. You can rely on this income later to make changes to improve your buffet restaurant business.
