You want it to be someplace people really feel invited into. They should be able to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. For many people that visit coffee shops, this is a vital piece of the experience. If you don't offer it, they will get their products some place else. A balanced menu is also important. If you are limited on what you offer some customers will become bored. Still, if you have too vast of a menu people are going to be taking forever to place their order. You will also make it more difficult for employees to learn to do their job effectively. Why do some coffee shops fail? They don't follow the good advice that is right in front of them. They think they have all the answers and then realize too late that they don't. There is definitely a consumer demand for coffee shops, and it continues to increase all the time. Since the demand is there, you have to make sure you are effectively able to meet the needs of those consumers.
