Novelty Neckties Are Not Only A Fashion Statement, But A Trend

Have you ever made a social blunder by wearing a novelty necktie on the wrong occasion and left you feeling rather foolish? Well, you are not alone.

It's a great thing to have a sense of humor, there is no doubt. Being able to see the funny side of things will help you get through some tough times and be more philosophical than friends or colleagues who are humorless.

These gloomy folks aside, most people are aware there is a right time to make a statement with a novelty necktie and a wrong time.

Choosing the right necktie for the right occasion is not a skill that everyone possesses, and novelty necktie wearers are no exception.

There are some great novelty neckties around. They can depict characters from your favorite cartoons or shows, movie stars, reflect your hobbies, your favorite food or drink, your pets, or your likes and dislikes, but wearing one to an important board meeting unless you are the boss is a no-no.

Be sensible with it and choose a necktie to suit the occasion. The time to wear your favorite 'my company stinks but I need the money' necktie is not when you are asking your boss for a raise.

Your novelty necktie with 'real men eat burgers' on it may be fine in a burger joint but will go down like a lead balloon in a smart vegetarian restaurant. You may well see the funny side of it, but your dining companions may just feel embarrassed.

If you can't bring yourself to wear a more sober and conventional tie on these occasions, then try and make a choice from one of the less noisy and more tasteful novelty neckties. There are more subtle choices to be made.

Some other types you can choose could be based on works of art for example, or maybe just show some sort of beautiful scenery that shouldn't offend anyone.

If you stubbornly refuse to tone it down, try and choose a novelty necktie with a small and subtle repeat pattern on it. Some of the connoisseur range depict tiny wine glasses (no good at a recovering alcoholics meeting), and others have little coffee cups for example. Seen from a distance they look like patterned ties, but if you get close enough you can see what they are.

If that doesn't grab you, then how about going for something with a small pattern on it depicting whatever it is that appeals to you. You can still let the world know what your favorite brand of beer is, but by choosing a novelty necktie with tiny images on it they will have to get pretty close to find out which brand you drink.

There are many new designs being introduced in the novelty necktie market each year as their popularity continues to rise. You never know, you may even find one as a Christmas present for one of your humorless colleagues that will bring a smile to their face!
