Are children happy at your restaurant? You certainly want to do your best to make sure that they are taken care of. This fact can determine if their parents will be dropping in or not when the entire family is going out to eat. Keeping children happy at your restaurant will help ensure even though people in there without children are going to be happy as well. It can be hard to relax and enjoy a meal when children are fussing. The majority of restaurants offer both booths and tables. You don't have to but it is strongly encouraged. Many people will have a preference as to which one they sit in. You will find individuals with small children often request a booth. Always make sure you ask what they want instead of just assigning them one or the other. It is easier to prevent children from falling and to keep them seated. For very small children you need to be offering both booster chairs and high chairs. At a table a child is more likely to fall from a booster chair though. With a booth they have some support on the sides. High chairs are a necessity for people with young children and they will expect you to have enough on hand to meet the demand. It can be a while before the food is ready in certain restaurants. You may wish to offer something small for the children. This can be in the form of something like crackers. You should check with the parents first though as they may not want their children to have anything before their meal arrives. If you already offer something such as chips and salsa or breadsticks though that is adequate. Many children can be easily entertained by games on the table. There are many different ones you can offer them. Games with the pegs where you have to jump each one and try to get down to as few as possible are great. You can offer a set of links too that they can connect and build things with. You can also offer coloring sheets with crayons. These are really fun for children and they often look forward to getting them. There are many that are part of the place mat. Some have games on them too such as matching and simple mazes to get to the end of. Parents can help their children to complete them if they aren't able to do it on their own. Parents know better than anyone else what is going to keep their children entertained for a meal. This is why they may bring in some things from home. They don't want to deal with a restless child while they are dining out. It can be embarrassing when your two year old is throwing a temper tantrum in a restaurant. Keeping children happy in a restaurant isn't that difficult. It does help if you are geared towards doing what you can to make it happen though. Do your best to offer an atmosphere that is family oriented. As a parent, it can be very uncomfortable to eat in a place where you feel your children really aren't welcome.
