As for preparing and cooking the dogs food you can actually make the whole process much easier for yourself if you were to do it when preparing meals for the rest of the family. Then once they have been prepared all you need to do is place them in a container (clearly marked dog food) in the fridge or freezer and then take them out when needed. Also, if you cook their food in large batches it may mean that you will only have to cook for your dog once a week or even once a month, instead of preparing a fresh meal each day. By planning carefully what recipes, you are going to use and when to cook them you can make the process much quicker and easier to do. Certainly being sure that your dog is eating well is worth the time and effort you invest in making homemade dog food for them.
