Computers are increasingly a part of our lives. Everyday is seems harder to imagine not having them be a part of our home, our jobs, and our social life. The bottom line is our lives our better via computers. They allow us to become more efficient with our time, which is frankly, our most valuable commodity. That being the case, it logically proceeds that the more efficient your computer the better. With this almost instantaneous access to information we've become a bit spoiled. We look back ten to fifteen years at the computers we used at the time and think "what dinosaurs those were". We didn't mind waiting for a new page to load, it was a good excuse to get that second cup of coffee. Nowadays when a task we are waiting for the computer to perform takes more than a few seconds, we become uneasy, impatient, or downright upset. We've come to rely on the computer for many facets of our life: work, school, communicating with friends to name a few. We get a little impatient when our PC starts behaving like a slowpoke. In this article, we will observe three well known ways to improve or increase the speed of your personal computer. 1. Upgrade Your Memory (RAM) If you had your computer for a long time, and you feel that it is not up to date, you may have a real problem running newly released software products. Because you do not have the optimal requirements to operate new software, your computer will begin to operate very slow. If this is indeed the case, you may want to consider getting more RAM for your computer. RAM, which stands for random accessed memory, can actually boost your pc speed by a good amount. 2. Maintaining your Computer's Registry The registry is a not well known place on your computer that helps your machine collect and organize its thoughts and memories. It's kind of a signpost for where to find information that your computer follows. Over time, as data becomes moved around and deleted or changed, the registry of your computer tend to get a little convoluted., or corrupted. The individual files of the registry are know as registry keys, and sometimes they point to places that just don't work anymore. To solve this problem simply download a reputable registry cleaner and it should set things in order and provide smoother performance 3. Do Not Have Multiple Programs Running We get rather proud of ourselves at times on how much multitasking we are capable of doing. Computers can do this as well and often multitasking is used as a selling point. The fact is though that multitasking generally slows the computer down. It's sometimes an advantage to have your computer working on a task in the background. However, some applications are not totally compatible with one another in the sense that trying to run them both simultaneously will degrade your computer's performance. The best approach here is to find out from experience what works and what does not so that when you feel a need for multitasking you'll know what to expect and if performance is degraded you'll understand why.
