Fiction: All Internet Home Business Opportunities Are Legitimate

By: David Gates

Most people want freedom from their bosses. Freedom to set their own hours and be independent is a desire that most continuously seek. Most of these people want to know if Internet business opportunities are right for them. Although it is possible to have a successful Internet business, figuring out the real ones from the scams is the key.

The question is, are there legitimate home business opportunities out there? It is a sad fact that most of the offers of great wealth and freedom are scams. A recent government study found that an amazing 81% of these internet opportunities were scams.

The sad reality of today's world is that there are a lot of people out there who are willing to con innocent people into believing lies that lead to scamming their money from them. A general rule of thumb is that old adage: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

But how do you distinguish between the scam sites and the legitimate sites? This is the first in a series of potholes on your way to becoming a home-business owner. But, though the road can be hard to traverse, with a little direction you can find your way to your goal without going off course.

One of the best defenses of scam sites is the victims that have been scammed by them. Search the questioned site in the search engine along with the word "scam". There are sites devoted to posting information on sites that have conned people. Find these sites and add them to your favorites. When you are unsure, visit one of these sites and see if they are known as scammers.

Don't make the assumption that all is well if you cannot find any information on the site in question. It might be a new site or its victims haven't reported anything yet. Don't let yourself be the first one. Inspect every opportunity closely before joining. Most scam sites look different yet run the same scam. The trick is to learn the clues and you will be able to spot these right away.

A help section, current and detailed information, working links and support are always available on legitimate sites. If the site in question is missing any or all of these that is a big warning sign that the site should be avoided. Legitimate sites will always offer support for their products or offers.

Stop the scammers from collecting money from people searching for Internet business opportunities by informing them of what you have learned. Now that you know how to spot these scam sites, you will know what to say when people ask "Are Internet home business opportunities legitimate?
