Divan Beds For Your Home

By: DanPartridge

Divan beds are ideal furnishings for just about every room in every home.

Divan beds account for about half of the market share for beds in the UK. This is due mainly to its relative affordability and its flexibility as a household furniture. The demand for divan beds is growing as more and more people are attracted to the increasing number of divan models with built-in storage options as well as the ability to link divan beds together allowing for an upsized mattress.

Quite simply, divan beds are the better choice for any household that is starting out. If you have a mansion and you can afford a luxurious four-poster bed, then cost wouldn’t be much of an issue (although bespoke divan beds can still be a fabulous addition for modern expensive homes). However, for average families and especially for single income households, divan beds make for very useful furnishings in and out of the bedroom.

Children’s Bedroom

Standard single size beds are available as divans although there are even smaller divan beds built exactly for children. There are two approaches to using divans for the children’s bedroom. The first is to acquire the smallest available divans, fasten them together and apply a child sized mattress. This way, when the child outgrows the bed, you may simply unfasten the divans for use in the living area as additional seating. Then simply purchase a new bed for the growing adolescent.

The other approach is to utilise a single standard sized divan and when the child grows up you can easily add-on another divan to upgrade it to a double sized bed. Either way, ensure that you get divans with adequate storage space which comes quite handy to keep children’s toys and whatnots. Divans as storage compartments are all the rave these days and come in full capacity side or end drawers or as smaller cabinets with sliding doors.

Guest Room

The divan bed is ideal for guest rooms as you can easily modify it to suit the number and composition of your house guests. Are they a couple visiting for the weekend? Put two to three divans side-by-side and use a double or king sized mattress on top. Or perhaps they are your teens’ schoolmates on an overnight study group. A pair of single divans disjointed would give each of them a good night’s rest.

Living Room

A bed in the living room is not such a bad thing and it may be your only option if you don’t have a guest room to begin with. In the first place, divans are meant to serve as couches by day and beds by night with only a mattress differentiating the two purposes. Use a foldable mattress or several layers of soft foam that you can roll for easy storage. Then like magic, your divan beds disappear and you have your living room back.

Clearly, with divan beds, single person households and families have a more advantageous investment compared to cheaper beds with less features. Divan beds are indeed the practical choice for the modern consumer.
