A lot of companies offer both paid and free versions of their security software. Most of these software suites are good but some can be a real drain on your system resources and some should be completely avoided.

AVG is one of the most reputable and better known internet security providers online. In my humble opinion they offer one of the best security suites out there, and it's completely free. Version 8 provides a multi faceted approach to online security with your web browser even alerting you to dodgy websites!

The web surfing protection is very useful as it can alert you to websites that it deems could be a security threat.
