The nine months of pregnancy is over, your little one is finally brought into this world. A newborn should never be left alone, but it will not be possible for you to be with him or her always. Possibility is that when your little one is sleeping, you will try to attend to other of your important works. Baby monitors comes greatly in handy here, as it keeps you off the worry about what is happening with your baby while you are away from him or her. A typical baby monitor, also known as a baby alarm, is a simplex (uni-directional) radio transmitter and receiver system used to remotely listen for noises made by an infant. The transmitter is positioned near enough to the baby to pick up sounds they make, and the receiver is positioned somewhere in the house with the parent. Basically there are three kinds of baby monitor available in the market namely: audio, audio-visual, and movement or breathing monitors. You are entrusting the safety of your baby to the monitor when you are not in the nursery, so you would want to make sure that you purchase a reliable unit. Audio baby monitors fall into two types: analog and digital. Traditionally, analog baby monitors were subject to lots of interference from other household items that gave off a wireless signal. So to guarantee an interference-free transmission and reception you will need a digital baby monitor. The higher-end digital baby monitors use something called DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology) technology. While an audio monitor is sufficient for most people, some people value the extra security of having an audio-visual monitor where you can actually see your babies on a TV screen built into the receiver. If you decide to get an audio-visual monitor, make sure it has night vision capability, or it won't be much use when it's dark. For complete reassurance that your little one is sleeping safely, you can also get a breathing and movement monitor. This consists of a pressure pad placed under the cot mattress, which will sense if your baby stops breathing or shows other signs of distress, and alert you immediately in order to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Remember that there is nothing more important in the world than the safety of your child and a baby monitor is a great tool parents need to keep tabs on their infants, and a must have item to alert parents to any problems their baby may be having. A baby monitor is a wonderful aid, but it is not a substitute for proper supervision, so always make certain you can get to your baby immediately if required. Reliable baby monitors can be purchased online at a variety of models and prices.
