Activists are the best people because they care about something beyond themselves enough to put time, money, energy, creativity into it and activism, at its best, is a bold statement of the basic goodness of human nature . But activists do have a particular liability in common that we should confront and acknowledge for our own benefit. We love the fight so much that we sometimes forget to win . Some years back I was a member of a council composed of leaders of various activism groups and they were all about getting themselves arrested for speaking up for their beliefs… that was their highest level of self satisfaction in accomplishment . Uh…that does nothing for anyone but the protestor himself. He gets to feel like Jesus or some other martyr for a cause and position himself in history because he spent a night in the slammer with a bunch of drunks and would be car thieves. Let me put this another way. Did you ever see those old slapstick comedians or cartoons where they do this shtick of needing to get into some room and hammering with their fists on the door to that room which is locked and, all the while, they fail to notice that there is another door to the side of the one they are hammering on which is wide open and they could simply walk right through? It can be like that for activists, too . For an activist there is a real exhilaration, an amazing high that can be attained by expressing freedom of speech, by confronting the evil in the world, by standing with fellow activists and of self esteem and knowingness of one’s own decency involved in grabbing a bull horn and a picket sign and hitting the street. It is a sensation that only an activist can appreciate. Others get it by being spectators at sporting events but activists get it by actually going out there and doing something effective. However, we activists sometimes have so much fun doing what we are doing that we forget one little thing… to WIN! A case in point is the Water4Gas system for converting car engines from gasoline to gasoline/hydrogen hybrid which helps the individual driver tremendously with drastically improved fuel economy and higher MPG and a quieter and smoother running engine. But it also helps the environment in a major way with much cleaner emissions. It converts the car engine from gasoline to a gasoline/hydrogen hybrid. It is an old mechanic’s trick, like if they want a car to pass emissions, they just pour water into the engine, all the gunk shoots out the back and then they take the car into the local smog inspection station and it passes. Well, that is a fraudulent practice because the car should not have passed emissions. But the same principle applies to the Water4Gas system, putting hydrogen into the air/gas mixture for a couple of weeks will eventually clean up the emissions and permanently, not just to pass an emissions test! So the point is that all of this activism for cleaner energy and against climate change has given us a much larger and more urgent disaster where crops are being grown for biofuel instead of food, resulting in a major global food scarcity and food riots in countries around the world and the prospect of ten to twenty million people dead this year alone from starvation who did not have to die ! And biofuel doesn’t even make a cleaner environment, it worsens it! This tremendous outpouring of concern, stirring of hysteria over global warming and energetic activism is now resulting in death when we could all very easily and profitably win with the Water4Gas system instead ! And then they will be free to campaign for something else besides clean energy, like the restoration of the Constitution and due process of law in America.
