It is vitally important to every person that their quality of life is the very best possible. The only hiccup here is that given the wrong advice, you could either end up spending an awful lot more money than you expected. Worse, you could purchase an incorrect item and end up worse off than before. With so many amazing disability aids on the market today to enhance life - the need to ensure that good quality advice is given, is evermore vital. Disability aids are a boon - there was a time when we would have to sell a family home when we got too old and the stairs seemed to grow in height every time we went up them. Now a stair lift takes the strain. There are companies who supply curved stair lifts as well, to go up a stepped flight of stairs. Walk-in-baths and shower cubicles, which take wheelchairs, are common now and this means that we can retain a sense of privacy and well-being in our personal cleanliness. The more mundane tasks, such as opening that peanut butter jar, pouring a cup of boiling water for tea, turning a tap on or off can be crippling to someone with arthritis for example. This really does not have to be the case - there are small and relatively in-expensive disability aids available today that help with all of the above tasks, and many more. I personally found that during a period of recovery from a badly broken leg, the most difficult task I seemed to face daily was being able to carry a cup of lovely hot tea from the kitchen, into the lounge, where I could sit down, relax and enjoy it. I certainly did not get the right advice at that time; no one mentioned that there are wonderful caddy's and specialist trolleys, which can do this for you. I spent many hours standing in a kitchen on my crutches trying to enjoy my tea! Crutches - now there is an item to test the hardiness of anyone's hands over a period. Again I battled with bits of sponge to try to soften the handles, without knowing that there are specially designed comfy grip handles, comfy enough even for me ! Disability aids do not stop at any time during your 24 hour day, even when you are sleeping. Be it a profiling bed which moves to support five different parts of your body at any one time, a bed frame to lift the blanket off an injured leg, a V pillow to help with sleeping, a mattress topper to give extra support and comfort where needed - there are more disability aids to keep us as comfortable as possible. The only word again is - advice. Get the best advice possible and shop around for the best value available.
